This values metal at spot. It is not what a dealer will hand you: buy-back is quoted under spot, and the gap widens on smaller lots and on generic rounds and bars. Treat the figure as the ceiling on a sale, the same way melt is the ceiling on scrap.
The total's cost and gain stay blank unless every metal you hold has a cost entered. A partial basis compared against a full valuation would report a gain that is mostly just the leg you did not price.

Common questions
- Is this what a dealer will pay me?
- No. This values metal at spot, which is the ceiling. Dealers quote buy-back under spot, and the gap widens on smaller lots and on generic rounds and bars. Treat the figure the way melt value works for scrap: the most the metal could be worth, before anyone takes a margin.
- Why is my gain blank?
- Because a cost was not entered for every metal you hold. Comparing a full valuation against a partial cost basis reports a gain that is mostly just the leg you did not price, so the total stays blank rather than showing a flattering number.
- Is anything I enter stored or sent anywhere?
- No. The calculation runs in your browser. Nothing you type is saved, sent to us or written to a cookie, so closing the tab clears it and reopening the page will not remember what you entered.
